Tyler’s Yogurt Surprise

I have been absolutely loving this yogurt dish recently. It’s delicious and nutritious, and with a nice 35 grams of protein, it gives you everything you need to tackle even the toughest of days. Start your day off right, eat it as a snack, or even as a quick lunch. Why is it called a “yogurt surprise”? I’m not quite sure. I suppose it’s because with each bite, you never know exactly what you’re going to get? Or possibly because it’s surprisingly delicious? Who knows? Who cares? I just hope you enjoy it!

INGREDIENTS

1 Cup Plain Greek Yogurt

1 Tbsp Honey

1/4 Cup Almonds (*See Note)

1/2 Cup Fresh Blueberries

1/2 Cup Fresh Strawberries, Sliced

1 Tbsp Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips (Optional)

DIRECTIONS

  1. Mix the yogurt and honey in a bowl until fully combined.

  2. Mix in the almonds to the yogurt base.

  3. Top with the remaining ingredients.

NOTES

Use any fresh fruit you like in this dish. Fresh diced peaches are particularly delectable, but you can use raspberries, blackberries, or anything else you like. Granola is also a nice addition. Your imagination is the only limit!

*I keep my almonds in the freezer, just like I do with all nuts. Because of their high fat content, almonds can go rancid over time. They stay fresher longer in the freezer, and in this dish, they have the added benefit of keeping the yogurt cooler longer while I’m eating. Plus, on a personal note, I like the extra crunchiness the frozenness delivers.
